The Disaster Survivor Network grew out of The Old Fire Recovery Group which is a team of survivors from the Old Fire (aka the Old Waterman Canyon Fire of 2003). Now, our group wants to share our knowledge to help other disaster survivors.  This website is the knowledge we've gained about the process of long term disaster recovery.

We choose purposely not to call ourselves "victims" since the true victims of the disaster are are not alive to tell the tale. Join us in our new life... after the disaster.

Fire Survivors

If you've been hit by a disaster and want an immediate "To Do" list, download our flyer HERE (Twice Burned article mentioned in the flyer).

Then download the Personal Property Inventory Worksheet/Database from CARe's website to help with the inventory process

Then buy and read the book Emotional Recovery After Natural Disaster just so you realize you're not going crazy.

And if you want a laugh (or a good cry)... take a look at how your insurance company wants you to live "After a House Fire".
